Mortal Kombat will be getting its first downloadable content soon, according to series creator Ed Boon. In an interview with G4TV, Boon discussed a patch to add balance changes, which will come alongside the first DLC pack.Mortal Kombat

“We really want to make the patch coincide with the first DLC that’s going to come out,” he said. “So the Scarlet character is going to contain, not only her, but some free stuff and all the patch changes for balancing.” When asked for a timeframe, Boon answered, “Certainly within the next month, but the next few weeks I’d say.”

The Scarlet character was revealed before the game was out, after another Ed Boon interview outed both her and Kenshi. The interview was quickly pulled, and no price was mentioned for the pack. Scarlet (aka Scarlett and Skarlet) was initially rumor borne by a glitch in Mortal Kombat 2 that turned the female ninja outfits red.

Mortal Kombat has already been a financial success, hitting the top retail console sales for April above Portal 2.
