Spike VGA’s 2011: Dead Island better win Trailer of the Year

So the Spike VGA’s 2011 are upon us and I know everyone is focused on what game will take home the coveted Game of  The Year award and also on what new game may be revealed and rightfully so but I took a different route. I looked at GameTrailers nominees for ‘Trailer of The Year’ and one thing came to mind.

Dead  Island absolutely, positively, emphatically better win Trailer of The Year! The guys over at Techland and Deep Silver put together a absolute phenomenal piece of art with their inclusion of a forwards and backwards (yeah I said backwards) interpretations of the story. Showcasing a zombie outbreak on an island while a family is on vacation. The plot and location is enough to intrigue but they took it to another level with the music score encasing the already intense and “edge of your seat” presentation.  Now as far as the music itself — pure genius and might I add hilarious! With the backwards version featuring the artist pulling double duty as the singer/narrator as he’s actually singing — exactly — what’s — happening — in — the — trailer! AMAZING!!!

All in all I love this Trailer! Don”t get me wrong the other nominees Assaassin’s Creed: Revelations, Batman: Arkham City, Dark Souls,  Deus EX: Human Revolution, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Hitman: Absolution, Prey 2, Tomb Raider and Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception all are formidable opponents (Where’s the D.C. Universe trailer? — that was a beast too!) but Dead Island’s originality and humor sets itself apart. I would not be exaggerating when I tell you I almost got up and clapped after it finished. The Trailer was so good I was dead (no pun intended) set on buying the game strictly off of it’s presentation. The only reason I don’t own this game is because I found out it was in first person. This Trailer set a new standard for Trailers, it looked at all other trailers in their creative eye and said “Step your game up!”. I don’t think I’ve been this impressed by a trailer ever! So again I hope, no forget that, you guys at Techland better get Trailer of the year! It’s much deserved and needs to be recognized.

Here’s a look at  these two phenomenal trailers just in case you missed it one backwards, one forwards. Do you agree with me? CCU wants to hear from you.
