PSN Offline Due to ‘External Intrusion’
Sony investigating cause behind new outage. [UPDATE]
From IGN by way of PlayStation Blog:
Update: Sony tonight issued a statement saying the PlayStation Network outage is due to an “external intrusion” but did not clarify beyond that. A timetable for when PSN will be up and running again was also not provided.
Hacker group Anonymous said today they are not claiming responsibility for this particular outage, however.
The statement in full from Senior Director of Corporate Communications Patrick Seybold can be read below:

Wow that’s crazy…. Hurry up and fix it!!!
I heard Sony is keeping it offline until they find the vulnerability in their network.
all this time i’m thinking something forced it down all the while their the 1’s keeping it DOWN!!!! UNBELIEVABLE!!!! ok gamers start getting ur single player games out!
There are rumors going out that it’s the natural disasters that is actually the cause. While I doubt that’s the case, having 5+ earthquakes, all above a 5.0 magnitude, as well as the various hurricanes can’t be helping Sony any. It’s a shame, I got a PS3 a few months ago and while I’m primarily on my 360/3DS these days, not having Uncharted online really sucks. Plus, I don’t want to get Mortal Kombat if PSN stays down…I might have to get a fighter on the 360, eeeek!
Bad news PSN users! Sony ust announced they had a massive breach in security, and ALL your personal information, including credit/debit card numbers may have been stolen. They waited a WHOLE week to tell us! Watch your cad accounts, guys…
