Diablo III makes history, sets PC Game Launch Record

Add another one to the record books folks.

It seems that the guys over at Blizzard Entertainment have some celebrating to do, as they just announced that their game Diablo III has just beat the all-time record in fasting selling PC game.

Diablo III, selling 3.5 million copies in a 24hr period, represents the biggest launch in PC game history. Blizzard also wanted you to know this does not include the 1.2 million players who received Diablo III as part of signing up for the World of Warcraft “Annual Pass” promotion. If you did the math that’s 4.7 million gamers already!

It seemed that having such a staggering number at launch even threw Blizzard off , as they mentioned that they were not prepared to handle the outstanding output, but assures they are on it.

Here’s a quote from Mike Morhaime , CEO and Co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment:

“We’re definitely thrilled that so many people around the world were excited to pick up their copy of Diablo III and jump in the moment it went live”.

“We also regret that our preparations were not enough to ensure everyone had a seamless experience when they did so. I want to reaffirm our commitment to make sure the millions of Diablo III players out there have a great experience with the game moving forward, and I also want to thank them for their ongoing support.”

“Regarding today’s announcement, we recognize that setting a new launch record is a big achievement,” Morhaime continued. “However, we’re especially proud of the gameplay feedback we’ve received from players worldwide. We’re pleased that Diablo III has lived up to players’ high expectations, and we’re looking forward to welcoming more players into Sanctuary in the days ahead.”

Congrats to Blizzard Entertainment, I know all the PC advocates would be proud. Keep up the good work.
